Arabic vocabulary
How to say “before me” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ثُمَّ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلِي،
Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah send blessings and grant him peace, arrived before me.
قَبْلِي — before me. This is a time word 'before' with an attached -i ('me') fused on, so it means 'before me' in time. The attached pronoun is in the genitive form this word governs, and it places the Prophet's arrival earlier than the speaker's.
