Arabic vocabulary
How to say “bewildered” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
اذا كان الذين قد انتدبوا للرد على الفلاسفة قد حاروا ولحقتهم كسفة،
If those who set out to refute the philosophers were confused and affected by gloom,
حَارُوا — they were confused. This is a hollow verb — its middle root letter is a weak one that collapses, so the past stem comes out short. The '-u' ending carries 'they'. It describes the refuters themselves ending up bewildered, the very thing they set out to cure in others.
