Arabic vocabulary
باللَّه is how you say “by God” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
ولقد وصينا الذين أوتوا الكتاب من قبلكم وإياكم أن اتقوا الله فبالله ؛
And We have certainly instructed those who were given the Scripture before you and yourselves to fear God;
فَبِاللَّهِ — so by God;. This is the bound fa- 'so' plus the preposition bi- 'by' plus the divine name, 'so by God'. The fa- draws a conclusion, the bi- swears or appeals by God and forces the name into the possessed ending; together they form an oath-flavoured 'so, by God'.
