How to say “contradict” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
والأصولي الذي أثبت بعض الصفات ونفى بعضها وتأول في أماكن يقولون متناقضا،
And the theologian who affirms some attributes, denies others, and interprets in certain places, they call him contradictory.
مُتَنَاقِضًا — contradictory. This is what they say he is — 'self-contradictory' — in the accusative, the thing he is deemed (an unspoken 'make him' governs the case). It is a Form VI active participle, a pattern that often means 'doing something mutually / with oneself', here 'contradicting himself'.
