How to say “distinguish” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
يُحسنُ الظنَّ بمخالفه، فيُفسِّر كلامَه على أفضلِ محاملِه ما دام يحتمل، ويُفرّق بين نقضِ القولِ وإهانةِ القائل
He thinks well of his opponent, interpreting his words in the best possible light as long as they can bear it, and distinguishes between refuting the statement and insulting the speaker.
وَيُفَرِّقُ — and distinguishes. A doubled-middle verb, 'and draws a distinction,' joined by 'and' — another mark of the fair person. It takes 'between' next; he separates two things people often confuse, named after.
