Arabic vocabulary
How to say “eloquent” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فإن كان الشاعر بليغا مفوها مقداما على الكذب في لهجته
If the poet is eloquent, articulate, and bold in deceitfulness in his speech,
بَلِيغًا — eloquent. This is the first predicate of 'to be', and it wears an accusative ending because that is the case 'kana' assigns to its predicate — 'eloquent'. The accusative here is a grammatical signal, not an object. More qualities follow in the same case.
