How to say “fall” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَالرَّاعِي يرْعَى حول الْحمى يُوشك أَن يَقع فِيهِ
Like a shepherd grazing around a sanctuary, he is likely to fall into it.
يَقَعَ — he falls. Verb in its subjunctive shape, triggered by the 'that' just before it, meaning 'he should fall'. The altered ending signals the action is the prospect being approached, not something already happening, completing the 'about to fall' idea.
