How to say “following” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنْ حَصَلَتْ مَصْلَحَةٌ حَصَلَتْ ضِمْنًا وَتَبَعًا
So if a benefit occurs, it happens incidentally and as a secondary outcome.
وَتَبَعًا — and as a secondary outcome. 'wa-' = 'and'; the '-an' ending marks an adverb — 'and as a follow-on'.
From: When Desire Exceeds Its Bounds →وحين تزلُّ قدمُك فتقول أستغفرُ الله، فالمعنى أطلبُ سترَ الذنب ومحوَ أثره، وأتبعه بإصلاحٍ عمليٍّ يُثبتُ صدق الطلب
And when your foot slips and you say, 'I seek forgiveness from Allah,' the meaning is: I ask for the covering of the sin and the erasure of its effect, and follow it with practical correction proving the sincerity of the request.
وَأَتْبَعُهُ — and follow it. 'and I make it follow' — 'wa' plus a causative present 'I have it followed', with 'it' attached as object. The causative shape means 'I append something to it'.
