Arabic vocabulary
How to say “for” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال إياكم والظن، فإن الظن أكذب الحديث،
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: 'Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the most false of speech.'
فإنَّ — for indeed. This joins the prefix fa- (so) to the heavy emphatic particle 'indeed', opening a reason for the warning just given. That emphatic particle governs the noun after it, pushing it into the object form even though it is the topic being asserted, and it lends the whole statement a tone of firm certainty.
