How to say “His face” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَنْ يَجْعَلَهُ خَالِصًا لِوَجْهِهِ الْكَرِيمِ،
And make it purely for His Generous Face,
لِوَجْهِهِ — for His face. A 'li-' of dedication fronts a noun closed by '-hi' (His), so one word means 'for His sake', marking whom the act is devoted to. The prefix and possessor wrap the noun; the suffix points to God, naming the one the deed is purely for.
From: Guidance for the Seeker →فاسدة كان عمله تابعًا لسريرته لا اعتبار بصورته فتبدو سريرته على وجهه سوادا وظلمة وشينا
His deeds were corrupt, following his inner self; no regard was paid to his outward appearance, so his inner state appeared on his face as blackness, darkness, and ugliness.
وَجْهِهِ — his face. A noun with an attached '-his', held in the genitive by the preceding 'on', naming the face and its owner together. The suffix ties it back to the same person under discussion, completing 'on his face'.
From: Creation Points to Resurrection →فقد قيل ثم أُمر به، فسُحب على وجهه حتى ألقي في النار،
It was said that then an order concerning him was given, and he was dragged on his face until he was thrown into the fire.
وَجْهِهِ — face his. This noun carries the possessor -hi ('his') and sits in the 'of' (genitive) ending under 'on', 'on his face'. The suffix folds 'his' onto the noun, naming the body part along which he was dragged.
From: Intentions on Judgment Day →ولكنك فعلت ليقال جواد، فقد قيل، ثم أُمر به فسُحب على وجهه ثم ألقي في النار
But you did it so that he would be called generous; so it was said. Then an order was issued about him; he was dragged on his face and then thrown into the fire.
وَجْهِهِ — face his. A noun 'face' with 'his' attached, sitting in the genitive because the preposition 'on' governs it. The attached possessor points back to the man being punished, so it is his own face he is dragged on. The suffix supplies 'his' with no separate possessive word.
