How to say “in the Lord” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
جمعة الدفتان من أول الحمد لله رب العالمين إلى آخر قل أعوذ برب الناس كلام الله
Friday of the Two Booklets: from the beginning, "Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds," to the end, "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind." The Word of God.
بِرَبِّ — in the Lord. This is the preposition bi- ('in/with') fused onto its noun, which it forces into the 'of' (genitive) ending. The preposition completes the verb 'seek refuge', marking the noun as the protector turned to; that noun in turn heads a possessive pairing with 'mankind' that follows.
