How to say “insult” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ مَنْ أَهَانَ لِي وَلِيًّا أَوْ أَخَافَهُ فَقَدْ بَارَزَنِي بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ وَبَارَانِي،
And know that whoever insults for me a close ally or frightens him, has thereby declared war against me and has contended with me.
أَهَانَ — insults. This is a past-tense verb of insulting, the condition's action under 'whoever', with a singular 'he' subject built into its form. After the conditional word the past shape carries an if-it-happens sense rather than a fixed past fact. It is the first triggering deed in the if-then.
