Arabic vocabulary
How to say “frighten” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ مَنْ أَهَانَ لِي وَلِيًّا أَوْ أَخَافَهُ فَقَدْ بَارَزَنِي بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ وَبَارَانِي،
And know that whoever insults for me a close ally or frightens him, has thereby declared war against me and has contended with me.
أَخَافَهُ — frightens him. This is a past-tense verb of frightening with -hu, the 'him' object, fused to its end, so one word means 'frightens him'. It is the second alternative deed in the condition. The object pronoun points back to the close ally just named.
