Arabic vocabulary
How to say “it is said” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
قال تعلمت العلم وعلمته وقرأت فيك القرآن قال كذبت، ولكنك تعلمت ليقال عالم وقرأت القرآن ليقال هو قارئ،
He said, "I learned the knowledge, I taught it, and I recited the Quran in your presence." He said, "You lied. Rather, you learned so that people would call you a scholar, and you recited the Quran so that they would say he is a reciter."
لِيُقَالَ — so that it may be said. This is the purpose-prefix li- ('so that') fused onto a passive-shaped verb, which the li- forces into the subjunctive. It names the real aim, 'so that it would be said', the passive leaving the sayers unnamed: he learned to be called something.

لِيُقَالَ — so that it may be said. This is the purpose-prefix li- ('so that') fused onto a passive-shaped verb in the subjunctive, repeating the earlier construction. It names the second hollow aim, 'so that it would be said', with the sayers again left unnamed.
