Arabic vocabulary
How to say “of destruction” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَمَا يَذُودُ الرَّاعِيُ الشَّفِيقُ غَنَمَهُ عَنْ مَرَاتِعِ الْهَلَكَةِ
Just as the compassionate shepherd wards his flock away from pastures of destruction.
الْهَلَكَةِ — of destruction. This definite noun is the owning half of the 'pastures of destruction' pairing, making the whole phrase specific. As the second noun in such a pairing it sits in the governed form. Arabic builds 'pastures of X' by setting the two nouns directly together, with no separate 'of'.
