Arabic vocabulary
How to say “pastures” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَمَا يَذُودُ الرَّاعِيُ الشَّفِيقُ غَنَمَهُ عَنْ مَرَاتِعِ الْهَلَكَةِ
Just as the compassionate shepherd wards his flock away from pastures of destruction.
مَرَاتِعِ — pastures. This is a plural noun, governed by the 'away from' before it and so in the governed form. It heads a possessive pairing with 'destruction' that follows, meaning 'pastures of...'. As the front half of that pairing it takes its definiteness from the owning noun after it.
