How to say “promise” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ تَعَالَىٰ ﴿فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنْبِكَ﴾
Allah, the Exalted, said: "So be patient; indeed, the promise of Allah is true, and seek forgiveness for your sin."
وَعْدَ — the promise. A noun 'promise' that is the first half of an 'of' possessive pair and wears the object-like ending assigned by the 'indeed' particle before it. It waits for its owner-noun to complete 'the promise of …', built by bare adjacency.
