How to say “question” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فأخر السؤال عن الحمد والثناء والمجد،
So he placed the request after the praise, glorification, and exaltation.
السُّؤَالَ — the question. A definite noun with 'the', standing as the direct object of the preceding 'postponed', so its accusative ending marks it as the thing acted upon. Arabic signals that object role through the word's vowel rather than through position, so the ending itself tells you the request is what got delayed.
From: Praise and Supplication in Prayer →وأيضاً فنوع الثناء أضافه الرب إلى نفسه، ونوع السؤال أضافه إلى عبده
Also, the type of praise was attributed by the Lord to Himself, and the type of request was attributed to His servant.
السُّؤَالِ — question. A definite noun serving as the owner in the 'type of request' pairing, in the genitive owner slot after the head noun. Its definiteness passes back to the preceding 'type', mirroring the earlier 'type of praise' phrase in structure.
