Arabic vocabulary
How to say “revelation” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
أمّا الاقتصارُ على ذِكرِ الاسمِ المُفرَدِ مُجرّدًا من جملةٍ ومعنى فليسَ من هديِ الوحي،
As for merely mentioning the single name detached from a sentence and meaning, it is not part of divine guidance,
الوَحْيِ — the divine revelation. Genitive owner of 'guidance' — divine revelation. The bare name-saying is judged outside the path that revelation laid down.
From: Words That Nourish the Heart →وَفَتَرَ الْوَحْيُ، فَتْرَةً حَتَّى حَزِنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Then the revelation paused for a time, until the Messenger of God became sorrowful; may God send blessings upon him and grant him peace.
الْوَحْيُ — the revelation. The al- on the front marks this as the specific, known thing, 'the revelation', and the -u ending makes it the subject, the one that paused. Definiteness here matters: it is THE revelation already in play, not revelation in general.
