How to say “scholars” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
علم الحديث والمحدثون فغالبهم لا يفقهون ولا همة لهم في معرفة الحديث ولا في التدين به، بل الصحيح والموضوع عندهم بنسبة
The science of Hadith and its scholars: most of them do not understand, nor do they care about knowing the Hadith or practicing it; rather, the authentic and the fabricated are the same to them.
وَالمُحَدِّثُونَ — and its scholars. The connector wa- 'and' joins a sound masculine plural noun 'the Hadith-scholars' (the -un ending marks a regular masculine plural). The wa- adds them to the topic 'the science of Hadith', so the subject is 'the science... and its scholars'. The plural ending here is the orderly kind Arabic uses for groups of people, as opposed to broken plurals.
