How to say “sitting” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
The people were praying behind Abu Bakr, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was sitting.
قَاعِدٌ — sitting. A descriptive word, 'seated', serving as the predicate of the Prophet; with no 'was' needed, its placement after the subject states his posture directly. It is the point of the contrast clause.
