وَذَكَرَ اِبْنُ أَبِي الدُّنْيَا عَنْ بَعْضِ السَّلَفِ أَنَّ شَيْطَانًا لَقِيَ شَيْطَانًا
Ibn Abi al-Dunya reported from some of the predecessors that one devil met another.
بَعْضِ — some of. A noun 'some' governed by 'from', hence genitive, and itself heading an 'of' pairing with 'the predecessors'. It marks 'some of...' within the transmission chain.

بَعْضِ — some. A partitive noun ('some / a portion of') heading an 'of' pairing 'some OF the reports', in the genitive ending under the preceding 'in'. It carves out part of the whole, setting up a whole-and-part link with the reports.
