فهاتوا من طرف الأخبار
So bring from the interesting stories
الأَخْبَارِ — stories. This is 'the stories', definite with 'al-'. It is the owned second term of the possessive pairing with the previous noun, 'a choice bit of the stories', so it takes the genitive ending that Arabic always gives the second noun in a back-to-back 'of' link.
From: Stories That Soften the Heart →الأول أن هذا الكتاب إنما وضع لذكر أخبار الأخيار،
The first is that this book was composed to mention the reports of the virtuous;
أَخْبَارِ — reports. A noun, 'reports', the owned half of 'mention of reports' and itself owner of 'the virtuous' next: a stacked possessive chain. So it is owned by 'mention' yet owns 'the virtuous', a link Arabic builds simply by lining nouns up.
From: Gaps in a Collection of Pious Lives →وَسَأُدْرِجُ لَكَ فِي هَذَا الْكِتَابِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِهِمْ،
God willing, I will include in this book for you from their accounts,
أَخْبَارِهِمْ — their accounts. A plural noun closed by '-hum' (their), the possessor glued to its end where English keeps a separate word. Sitting in the form the partitive before it requires, the suffix points back to the figures whose stories are being drawn on, so 'their' is built into the noun.
From: Guidance for the Seeker →أَضْحَكَ الثَّكَالَى بِمَا يُسْرَدُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِ البُخَلَاءِ وَالْحَمْقَى وَالْمُغْفَلِينَ وَالْمُتَمَاجِنِينَ وَالظُّرَافِ
He made the bereaved woman laugh with tales recounted about the misers, the fools, the gullible, those who spar, and the witty.
أَخْبَارِ — tales of. A plural noun, 'reports/tales of', governed into the after-preposition case by 'of', and itself the head of a further 'reports of the misers...' possessive. So it both obeys the preposition and owns the list of types that follows.
