لَقَدْ إِبْتَدَأَ إِبْنُ الْجَوْزِيِّ فِي التَّصْنِيفِ وَلَهُ مِنَ الْعُمْرِ سَبْعَ عَشَرَ سَنَةً؛
Ibn al-Jawzi began compiling works when he was seventeen years old.
التَّصْنِيفِ — the compilation. A definite verbal noun for the act of compiling/authoring, in the after-preposition case under 'in'. As an action packaged into a noun it lets 'began in the compiling' work as a single smooth phrase.
