How to say “the fires” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا هَذِهِ النِّيرَانُ،
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "What are these fires?"
النِّيرَانُ — the fires. The al- prefix makes this noun definite, the specific fires in view, and its final -u marks it as the subject of the question, the things being asked about. It names what the demonstrative pointed at.
