How to say “the heat” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَكَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ يَصْبِرُ عَلَى مُكَابَدَةِ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ فِي الْحَرِّ وَالْبَرْدِ
Many people endure the hardship of standing in prayer at night in heat and cold.
الْحَرِّ — the heat. A definite noun ('the heat') marked by al- and standing in the genitive as the object of the preposition before it. It is the first of a paired contrast with 'cold' that follows. The al- gives 'the' without a separate word.
