Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the question” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتَسْأَلُهُ شَيْئًا لَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْ أَمْرِ الدِّينِ لَمَا اِسْتَحْسَنَ السُّؤَالَ عَنْهُ؛
And she asks him something that, if it were not a matter of religion, would not be appropriate to ask about.
السُّؤَالَ — the question. Carries al- ('the'), making it specific, and is an action-noun naming the act of asking — the direct object of 'deem proper', so it takes the object ending. It is the very asking under discussion. The definiteness ties it to the particular question she raised.
