Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they are known” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْهَا لِبَاسٌ يُعْرَفُونَ بِهِ مِنَ السَّكِينَةِ وَالْخُشُوعِ،
Upon them from it is a garment by which they are known for calmness and reverence.
يُعْرَفُونَ — they are known. This verb is in its passive shape, so its subjects receive the action, being recognized rather than recognizing, and the inner vowels carry that passive with no helper word. The -una ending marks the subject as 'they'. So one word says 'they are known'.
