How to say “threw away” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فرمى بما كان معه من التمر،
He threw away what dates he had with him,
فَرَمَى — he threw away. fa- (so/then) on a past-tense verb meaning 'he threw/cast'. The 'he' doer is inside the verb form, and the verb here governs its object through a preposition rather than directly, which is why the next word carries 'with/at'.
From: A Handful of Dates and Paradise →وَرَمَى بِهِ وَرَاءَ الحَائِطِ
He threw it behind the wall.
وَرَمَى — and he threw. A linking 'and' is fused to a past-tense verb whose 'he' subject is built in. The 'and' joins this throwing to the chain of actions before it. The verb then leans on the preposition after it to reach what was thrown.
