How to say “to him” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
ظهر له أن هذا القرآن من عند الله
It became clear to him that this Qur'an is from Allah.
لَهُ — to him. A 'to/for' prefix fused to a 'him' ending, 'to him', marking the person to whom the matter became clear. The suffix is the recipient; Arabic attaches it directly to the preposition.
From: Proof in All Creation →قَالَ تَعَالَى وَمَنْ يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا
He (Allah) said: 'And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide in it, and Allah's wrath is upon him, and He has cursed him and prepared for him a great punishment.'
لَهُ — for him. The preposition li- 'for' with 'him' attached, marking the killer as the one the punishment is readied for - 'prepared for him'. The suffix points back to him as the unfortunate beneficiary. One word fuses the 'for' relation with its object pronoun.
