Arabic vocabulary
How to say “tribes” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَجَعَلَتْ الْقَبَائِلُ تَمُرُّ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
So the tribes began to pass by with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.
الْقَبَائِلُ — the tribes. This is the irregular ('broken') plural of 'tribe', where Arabic reshapes the whole word to make it plural instead of just adding an ending. It is the doer of 'began', and Arabic treats such non-human plurals as feminine singular, which is why the verb took the '-at' ending.
