Arabic vocabulary
How to say “two” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَمْ يَبْقَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَيْرُ اِثْنَى عَشَرَ رَجُلًا،
Only twelve men remained with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
اِثْنَى — two. The first half of the compound number 'twelve', the 'two' part, which joins with the 'ten' after it to make a single teen-number. Arabic builds the teens by setting the unit and 'ten' side by side as a fixed pair.
