أَنَّهُ قَالَ كَانَ صَدِيقًا لِأُمَيَّةِ بْنِ خَلَفٍ،
He said that he was a friend of Umayya ibn Khalaf.
لِأُمَيَّةِ — of Umayya. A 'for/to' particle of attachment that puts the following name into the 'of' (genitive) shape, marking whose friend he was. It links the friendship-noun to the person named after it.
