How to say “successors” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وأصول دين الخلف هو ما صنفوا فيه،
The fundamentals of the religion of the later generations are what they compiled,
الخَلَفِ — the later generations. This closes the chain — 'religion OF the later generations' — in the genitive as final owner. It is the counterpart to the 'predecessors' earlier: the successors whose theology the author is contrasting.
From: Scripture Over Speculation →أَنَّهُ قَالَ كَانَ صَدِيقًا لِأُمَيَّةِ بْنِ خَلَفٍ،
He said that he was a friend of Umayya ibn Khalaf.
خَلَفٍ — Khalaf. The father's name closing the 'son of' link, carrying the 'of' (genitive) ending passed down the chain. It completes the friend's full name.
