How to say “understanding” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَدْ تَلَقَّاهَا عَنْهُمْ آخَرُونَ هُمْ عَلَى دَرَجَةٍ عَلِيَّةٍ مِنَ الْفَهْمِ وَالْوَعْيِ،
And others received it from them, people of a high degree of understanding and awareness.
الْفَهْمِ — the understanding. The definite object of the explicative 'of', hence genitive. With 'al-' it names the first quality, understanding, in which the group stands high.
