Arabic vocabulary
How to say “weaken” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِن تعلق أَمر الدّين بِهِ كَقَوْلِه تَعَالَى آل عمرَان وَلَا تهنوا وَلَا تحزنوا وَأَنْتُم الأعلون إِن كُنْتُم مُؤمنين
And if the matter of religion relates to it, as in His saying in Al-Imran: 'Do not weaken and do not grieve, for you will be superior if you are believers.'
تَهِنُوا — you weaken. Command-form verb addressed to a group, 'weaken', made negative by the 'do not' before it. The prohibition-negation puts the verb into its shortened command shape; the 'you-all' subject is built in.
