Arabic vocabulary
How to say “you are” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِن تعلق أَمر الدّين بِهِ كَقَوْلِه تَعَالَى آل عمرَان وَلَا تهنوا وَلَا تحزنوا وَأَنْتُم الأعلون إِن كُنْتُم مُؤمنين
And if the matter of religion relates to it, as in His saying in Al-Imran: 'Do not weaken and do not grieve, for you will be superior if you are believers.'
وَأَنْتُمُ — and you are. A connector plus a standalone 'you-all', forming 'and you are'. The bare pronoun acts as the subject of a verbless 'you are the higher ones' clause, where Arabic needs no 'are'.
