Arabic vocabulary
How to say “above” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَفَوْقُ مَوْضِعُ نَظَرِ الرَّبِّ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى إِلَى قُلُوبِ عِبَادِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
And above is the place of the gaze of the Lord, Glorified and Exalted, toward the hearts of His believing servants.
وَفَوْقُ — and above. Two pieces: wa- 'and', which starts a new statement here, plus the location word 'above' used as the topic of a verbless sentence, 'and above is the place of...'. The wa- opens a fresh clause rather than joining a list, and 'above' fronts the topic with no need for a linking verb.
