How to say “al-Fadl” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَمَنَعَهُمْ مِنَ الاِسْتِصْبَاحِ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ الْقَابِلَةِ، فَعَمَدَ الْفَضْلُ إِلَى الْقُمْقُمِْ مَمْلُوءٍ،
So he prevented them from having a light on the following night, and so al-Fadl reached toward the flask full of water.
الْفَضْلَ — al-Fadl. This is a proper name acting as the subject of 'set out', the one who made for the flask. As the doer it takes the subject role in the clause. It identifies who performs this renewed act of devotion.
