How to say “and they” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَهُمْ الَّذِينَ تَقُولُ لَهُمْ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ أَلَا تَخَافُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا
They are the ones to whom the angels say at the time of death, Do not fear and do not grieve.
وَهَمِّ — and they. The wa- opens a new statement and the core is the 'they' pronoun acting as subject. With no 'are' word in Arabic, the pronoun alone carries the equational sentence, pointing back to the previously named group as its topic.

And they are those who strove in Allah with the true striving due to Him.
وَهَمِّ — and they. The wa- opens a new statement, and its core is the 'they' pronoun acting as subject of an equational sentence. Note the written form here looks unusual, but grammatically it is still 'and they', with the pronoun carrying the sentence in the absence of any 'are'.
