How to say “aspect” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
كما يقال ماء جار ورجل ميت وإن لم يفعل الموت بل لما قام به من الموت نسب إليه على جهة الفعل
Just as it is said, 'flowing water' and 'a dead man,' even if he did not cause death but because death occurred in him, he is attributed as the doer of the action.
جِهَةِ — the aspect. A noun heading a possessive pairing with 'the action' after it: 'the manner of the action'. It gives up its own article and takes definiteness from the owner; its genitive comes from the preposition.
From: Creating Life from Nothing →وَهِي وَإِن كَانَت مَنْفَعَتهَا للْعَبد وَالله غَنِي عَنْهَا فَهِيَ لَهُ من جِهَة محبته لَهَا وَرضَاهُ بهَا
And even though its benefit is for the servant and Allah is self-sufficient from it, it is for Him in terms of His love for it and His approval of it.
جِهَةِ — from the aspect of. This noun is the front of a possessive pairing, 'the aspect of...', and sits in the genitive because the preposition before it governs it. As the head of the pair it stays bare of 'the' and reaches forward to what owns it.
