How to say “being singled out” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لِيَزُولَ عَنْ الطَّالِبِ لِلْهِدَايَةِ وَسُلُوكِ الصِّرَاطِ وَحْشَةُ تَفَرُّدِهِ عَنْ أَهْلِ زَمَانِهِ وَبَنُو جِنْسِهِ،
So that the seeker of guidance and follower of the path may be freed from the fear of being singled out from his contemporaries and peers.
تَفَرُّدِهِ — his being singled out. A verbal noun ('his being singled out') with the attached -hi ('his') giving the doer of that abstract action. It completes the 'of' pairing with 'unease' before it, so together they mean 'the unease of his being alone'. Arabic compresses a whole 'that he is set apart' clause into one possessed verbal noun.
