Arabic vocabulary
How to say “blessings” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ورجل وسع الله عليه، وأعطاه من أصناف المال، فأتي به فعرفه نعمه، فعرفها قال فما عملت فيها ؟
And a man whom Allah made wealthy and to whom He gave all kinds of wealth. He will be brought, and Allah will make him recognize His blessings, and he will recognize them. He will say: 'What did you do with them?'
نِعَمَهُ — His blessings. This is a plural noun 'favours/blessings' with 'his' attached at the end, and it is the thing the man is made to recognize. The attached possessor points back to God, so the phrase is 'His favours' - the gifts belonging to the one who bestowed them. The suffix doing the possessing is why no separate word for 'His' is needed.
