How to say “body” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ عزم وَنِيَّة جازمة تريح بدنك وقلبك وسرك
Rather, it is firm resolve and intention that brings ease to your body, heart, and mind.
بَدَنَكَ — to your body. The direct object of 'gives rest to', so it takes the accusative; the fused '-ka' adds 'your'. One word names both the body and its owner as what the intention relieves.
From: Repentance and Resolve →قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من أصبح معافى في بدنه، آمنا في سربه عنده قوت يومه، فكأنما حيزت له الدنيا
The Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said: Whoever wakes up healthy in his body, secure in his dwelling, having his day's provision, it is as if the world was gathered for him.
بَدَنِهِ — his body. This is the body joined with 'his', and the attached pronoun ties the health to the person introduced by 'whoever'. The noun sits in the genitive because of the preposition before it; one word holds both the thing and its owner.
