Arabic vocabulary
How to say “cattle” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقُلْتُ لَهُ كُلُّ مَا تَرَى مِنَ أَجْرِكَ مِنَ الإِبِلِ وَالْبَقَرِ وَالْغَنَمِ وَالرَّقِيقِ
So I said to him, "Take all that you see of your pay from the camels, the cattle, the sheep, and the slaves."
وَالْبَقَرِ — and the cattle. The connector 'wa-' here strings the next item onto the list of livestock, joining equal members in a series. The noun it leads is definite with 'the' and sits in the genitive, sharing the same case as the other listed categories.
