How to say “Commander” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَهَؤُلَاء أَصْحَاب رَسُول الله مَعَ أَمِير الْمُؤمنِينَ عَليّ بن أبي طَالب بِأَمْر النَّبِي
And these are the companions of the Messenger of Allah, with the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib, by the command of the Prophet.
أَمِيرِ — the Commander of. This noun is the front of a possessive pairing, 'the commander of the faithful', and it sits in the genitive because 'alongside' governs it. As the head of the pair it stays bare of 'the' and reaches to the owner next.
