Arabic vocabulary
How to say “departed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
هَيْهَاتَ، رَحَلَ كُلٌّ بِمَا فِيهِ، فَلَيْتَ اَلذُّنُوبَ إِذَا تَخَلَّتْ خَلَتْ
Alas! Everything has departed with what is in it; I wish that the sins, when they depart, would vanish.
تَخَلَّتْ — departed. A past-tense verb ('depart') marked feminine by the final '-t', agreeing with 'the sins' treated as a feminine singular (the usual agreement for a non-human plural). It is the verb of the 'when' clause set up by the particle before it.
