Arabic vocabulary
How to say “vanished” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
هَيْهَاتَ، رَحَلَ كُلٌّ بِمَا فِيهِ، فَلَيْتَ اَلذُّنُوبَ إِذَا تَخَلَّتْ خَلَتْ
Alas! Everything has departed with what is in it; I wish that the sins, when they depart, would vanish.
خَلَتْ — they vanished. A past-tense verb ('vanish'), feminine to agree with 'the sins', serving as the hoped-for result of the wish. It answers the 'when they depart' clause: the speaker wishes that, once gone, they would be truly gone for good.
