Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the sins” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
هَيْهَاتَ، رَحَلَ كُلٌّ بِمَا فِيهِ، فَلَيْتَ اَلذُّنُوبَ إِذَا تَخَلَّتْ خَلَتْ
Alas! Everything has departed with what is in it; I wish that the sins, when they depart, would vanish.
اَلذُّنُوبَ — the sins. A definite plural ('the sins') made definite by al-, standing as the subject of the wish-particle, which is why it carries the accusative ending demanded by that particle. It is the thing the speaker wishes about: that they vanish.
