How to say “empower” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قُلْتُ لَهُ وَلَا يَنْتَقِضُ هَذَا بِالْمُلُوكِ الظَّلَمَةِ الَّذِينَ مَكَّنَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَقْتًا مَا
I said to him, 'This is not refuted by the oppressive kings whom God empowered on the earth for a period of time.'
مَكَّنَهُمُ — empowered them. This is a past-tense verb in the doubled-middle pattern meaning to give power, with an attached object pronoun, 'empowered them', the pronoun pointing to the kings. Its subject, God, is named in the next word, after the verb in normal order.
